Teen Titans: The Judas Contract

Led by Starfire, the Teen Titans – Beast Boy, Raven, Blue Beetle, Robin and the just-returned Nightwing – have built a cohesive team in their never-ending battle against evil but their newest teammate, the mysterious, and powerful, Terra, may be altering that dynamic. Meanwhile, an ancient evil – Brother Blood – has awakened, and familiar foe Deathstroke is lurking in the shadows, both waiting to pounce. Ultimately, the Teen Titans will need to battle their enemies and their own internal doubts to come together and overcome the malicious forces around them in this twisting tale of intrigue, adventure and deception.

  1. Wow, that animation budget. Yeeesh! Barely anything but key frames for most of the film. They must have really scrapped this thing together, am I right? My guess is they decided to skimp on the frame count and invest in better actors and writers, cause that's what I'm seeing here.

Frankly, I'm not upset. I'll let you have your jittery fights and wonky mouth flaps, barely rigged 3D models and non-animated montage, so long as the story and dialogue ring true. And, yes sir, that they do.

Voices were really good. I usually find some weird thing to point out in most animated films regarding voice acting, because, let's face it's it's not easy to get right and there's many ways to flub it. This film didn't have anything I could point to like that. All really solid performances, and even with the weird lip flaps.

Music and sound I honestly don't recall. It's effective, if not memorable. Sometimes that's for the best.

Story was really good, as most everyone here has already pointed out, and that's largely due to the fact that the original comic book story was also really good, although there were some changes. Most notably the inclusion of Damian Waye/Robin and Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, who replaced Donna Troy and Cyborg.

If you got a little time, a few bucks and an interest in comics, this isn't a bad way to spend them.

  2. I was wondering why the title "Judas Contract" but after the film I realized why. SPOLER ALERT: Because of Terra's betrayl. Still I'm glad realized who her real friends & family were in the end. Noble way to for her go out.
