Shri Rudram is an ancient Vedic text and part of the Krishna Yajurveda. It is a powerful hymn in praise of Rudra, or Shiva. In the mystical tradition, Shiva represents the consciousness within everything, the pure essence within all, referred to in the Hindu scriptures as Sat Chit Ananda: truth, consciousness and bliss. It is in Shri Rudram that the great five syllable mantra, Om Namah Shivaya is first mentioned.

You might simply listen to the chant during meditation or you could chant along. The vibrations of the chant purify the atmosphere and mind, fill your being with peace and vigor, bestow protection, and coupled with a pure intention, have the power to grant your wishes, including liberation.

This album is a labor of love and 100% of the process are being donated to a worthy charitable cause. May the practice of chanting the Shri Rudram bring you countless blessings.

  1. Although the chanter has a nice voice, the pronunciation is glaringly incorrect for anyone trained in Vedic chanting. So many mistakes ! One can sort of overlook the phonemes – but certainly the meter is not culturally specific !!

  2. Sri Rudram – Namakam 10th ANUVAKA (10th Chapter)

  10. Vedic philosophies, mythology, traditions, practices are profound and powerful. Whatever is happening today in this world is the repeat of Mahabharata and Ramayana under the disguise of various religions and politics and countries and even sports. The same story will repeat after the destruction of the universe. So be relaxed and don't be fooled by the materialistic/illusory world imposed by maya(demon). If you are selfish and act upon inhumane impulses, the result may be birth in netherworld. However, netherworld is not bad, it teaches you lessons(mental, emotional and spiritual) so that you are given a human life(opportunity/choice) again. It all depends upon your action and state of mind whether you wish to travel to a higher dimension(state of equanimity/non duality) or require a lesson or two in myriads of innumerable pain. Good and evil are forces created by the same one force (people call it god- LOL how can you call someone by name which does not have any name or form) (i prefer to call it atman/non dual/ultimate reality/void/nothingness) present within every being. because lord shiva reached that state, he is given a form and name as shiva(the pure unbounded all-pervading consciousness). Shivoham Shivoham Shivaswarupoham–I am Shiva (the pure unbounded consciousness). I am the unbounded consciousness. I am the very form of the unbounded consciousness.(yes atman is higher than any god including shiva or any god). We get this knowledge through the yogi shiva himself. So essentially shiva is saying – please recognize the non dual, pure consciousness you are and stop living in misery/ignorance created by man made religions and gods.

  11. HEIGGHOO! ॐ! Ye philosophers! All ye millenial westerners wannabe guru, false ones only pretending to be houseless! Take heed of the faith of the Gainas. Know the threefold root of sin! 😉

  12. I cannot beginto explain what happens when i hear this chant but it definitely connects me with the supreme absolute. I play it while working in my office and feel blessed to have access to it.

  13. I've never considered my self a religious or "spiritual" person, but when I listened to this, it gave me an eerie feeling of calm and peacefulness even though I have no idea what the words mean

  14. Just a note to all. Please don't think much on the pronunciation of these mantras. All these thoughts are 'maya' (not true or real). Keep listening to this and try to recite and if, that doesn't come out well just tell ' AUM NAMASIVAYA or RAM RAM' that's equal and greater than any veda.
