His Holiness the 17th Karmapa: “Inner Connection and Meditation: Changing the World from Inside Out”

His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, is the head of the 900-year-old Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. He guides millions of Buddhists around the world. At the age of fourteen, the Karmapa made a dramatic escape from Tibet. Currently 29 years old, he is based in India and is very active in environmental issues, having transformed 55 monasteries across the Himalayas into centers of green activism. He recently announced that he will establish full ordination for women within his lineage, a long-awaited step that will change the future of Tibetan Buddhism. Leading a tradition that emphasizes direct realization of the nature of mind through serious meditation training, the Karmapa plays a key role in preserving Tibetan religion and culture for a new generation. www.kagyuoffice.org – www.facebook.com/karmapa www.youtube/user/karmapateachings

  1. When one meets the Pope, no matter how humble he is one cannot just reach out and touch him like you do when meeting old friends…..like wise, meeting Karmapa perhaps you should show more respect

  2. Incredibly impressed by his comments, which clearly come from a place of deep understanding, but more importantly, genuine humility (which is not always the case when listening to some other lamas, particularly regarding humility).

  3. …"the Karmapa made a dramatic escape from Tibet…" and now lives in the lap of luxury and comfort while Tibetans suffer daily.
Absurd how so many otherwise intelligent people buy this crap…but then, rationality goes out the window when it comes to the "spiritual". For proof, watch the reincarnation of P.T. Barnum – Deepak Chopra "Spiritual Solutions" at Authors at Google.

  4. In fact, Zavatari, you're discriminating, therefore, contradicting yerself. Ye mention America as yer country, when that is clearly a misconception. America is not the U.S., but the whole continent, from the farthest point in northern Canada, down to Ushuaia and Cape Hornos in Tierra del Fuego. Think before ye make an statement, the whole world is watching.

  5. There are dozens of "His" Holinesses from Tibet; but maybe one token "Her" Holiness.  This is why I quit Tibetan Buddhism.  When they select a new His Holiness, girls are not allowed to try out.  The Tibetans think only men are holy.  This is very bad karma that is hurting Tibet.
