Cartel Land

In this Sundance award-winning film, Director Matthew Heineman and Executive Producer Kathryn Bigelow (“The Hurt Locker”, “Zero Dark Thirty”) gain unprecedented, on-the-ground access to the riveting stories of two modern-day vigilante groups and their shared enemy— the murderous Mexican drug cartels. In the Mexican state of Michoacán, Dr. Jose Mireles, a small-town physician known as “El Doctor,” leads the Autodefensas, a citizen uprising against the violent Knights Templar drug cartel. Meanwhile, in Arizona’s Altar Valley – a narrow, 52-mile-long desert corridor known as Cocaine Alley – Tim “Nailer” Foley, an American veteran, heads a small paramilitary group called Arizona Border Recon, whose goal is to stop Mexico’s drug wars from seeping across our border. Heineman embeds himself in the heart of darkness as Nailer, El Doctor, and the cartel each vie to bring their own brand of justice to a society where institutions have failed. The film is a chilling, visceral meditation on the breakdown of order and the blurry line between good and evil.

  1. 1 of all 1 they don't let them selfs get filmed by americans they'll expose themselfs. ,2.they'll kill u instantly if u film them 3.when they intorregate u they dont put u against a wall lmao they take u to a place far away from society and they execute u in pieces after asking u questions i call fake documentary

  2. There is something extremely suspicious about this documentary. American filmmakers with their cameras in the face of federal troops trying to disarm the vigilantes? The entire scene seems staged. The federal troops caving in to the shouting citizens and giving back the weapons they confiscated… and cowering away? All filmed from different angles like a Hollywood movie? Where do all of these poor vigilantes get the sophisticated weapons? The questions go on and on about this "documentary". Makes no sense.

  3. Movie was good but it was pointless to show the wannabe boarder patrol they honestly dont do anything lmao and they act like they live in the thick of it. Lmao no hardship going on in that part of Arizona.

  4. all i see was true mexican warrios fighting for their community, while white americans bitches pretending, and stoping people unarmed, white people don't have the guts to fight back mexican cartels in mexico…

  5. Why is the American squawking about the illegally hired immigrants while Americans are unemployed? Why not direct his venom toward the greedy employers hiring and exploiting the illegal immigrants with poverty wages while Americans are unemployed?

  6. VERY POWERFUL documentary. Very amazed on how they put together actual image/footage to sum up a story that is now part of our history…… great to understand that there is a struggle on both sides of the line and how there's a similar cause that exists between original autodefensas and border residents taking own action ….
